I got the de-airing pugger for the same reason. Wedging irritates my wrists. I had the bilateral carpal tunnel surgery in 1982 or so and do not want to repeat that. I Like the bailey pug mill because I change from raku to porcelain and I can easily clean the aluminum casing spotless for the porcelain. The de-airing part does save my wrists. Marcia

I have an old Venco de-airing pugmill, with an aluminum barrel. I'm starting fresh once again with an empty, cleaned out barrel. My intention is to pug my huge pile of porcelain reclaim clay all at once (over a few days, perhaps). Posted July 16, 2015. I get my slop and trimming buckets really wet, make a slurry, and stir with electric drill paddle. the thick slurry goes in canvas bags which are hung and drip dried. I store the clay in 5 gallon buckets with a wet rag on top and lids on. I dig local clay and use the same process. I tried the meat grinder.
